Meillet Fsq. lat. էջ 89), որից իտալ. macchina, ֆրանս. machine, գերմ. Maschine (1695 թուից, ֆրանսերէնի միջոցով, ըստ Kluge 321), ռուս. машина, ասոր. [arabic word] makina ևն։ Թէև -այ վերջաւորող բառերը սովորաբար փոխառեալ ևն ասորերէնից, սակայն այս բառը նրանց կարգից չէ, որովհետև վերջաւորութիւնը չի յարմարում աս. ē-ին. մեքենայ փոխառեալ է ուղղակի յն. բառի յոգնակի μηχαναι ձևից։ -Հիւբշ. էջ 365։
