Տիգ. ցուփնալ «բանալին փճա-նալ». Բլ. Մշ. ցօպնել, ցօպնըվել «անբարո-յական ճանապարհ բռնել»։ Նոյն է նաև ցոփ թռչել, ցոփ կանգնել Երև. «մի ոստիւնով թռչիլ՝ կանգնիլ», ցոփ գնալ, ցոփ ման գալ Երև. «ոտքերը թեթևակի բարձրացնելով ման գալ» (Ամատունի, Հայոց բառ ու բան 645), որոնց հետ հմմտ. ցոփինընթաց, զո-փինաճեմ։
