[arabic word] vasna «ըստ կամաց», փոխառութեամբ գնչ. vaš «վասն», vašosi «վասն է՞ր»։ Հին պրս. արձանագրութեանց մէջ սովո-րական բանաձև է [other alphabet] vašna Auramazdaha «կամօքն (կամ շնոր-հիւն) Արամազդայ»։ Այս բառերի այլ զե-ղակից ձևերն են սանս. • Ուղիղ համեմատեց նաև Եւրոպա 1849, էջ 200, որ կցում է հպրս. vasna, vašna ձևերի հետ։ Նոյն իրանեան և սանս. ձևերի հետ են միացնում Böttich. ZDMG 1850, 362, Lag. Urgesch. 548, lusti, Zendsp. էջ 271։-Հիւբշ. Arm-Stud. § 263 իբր բնիկ հայ կցում է նոյն բառերին։ Բնիկ է ընդունում նաև «բաղձալ» արմատից։ Հիւնք. յն. φασἰς «բան, ասացուածք» բառից։ Բառիս ծագման վրայ վիճում են մի կողմից Bugge KZ 32, 56, BВ 17, 93, Meillet, Rev. crit. 1897, էջ 388 (հյ. թրգմ. Բազմ. 1898, էջ 119) և Pedersen, Նը-պաստ էջ 2, որոնք նախաձայն վ-ի, մի-ջին ա-ի և նշանակութեան պատճառաւ եռանեան փոխառութիւն են համառում հալերէն բառը, և միւս կողմից Հիւբ» Arm. Gram. 494 և IF Anz. 10, 46, որ բնիկ է համարում, առարկելով թէ իրանեան vašn ձևը պիտի տար հյ. *վաշն և ո՛չ թէ վասն։ Վճռական մեկ-նութիւնը տալիս է Meillet MSL 17, 354 նորագիւտ մանիքէական գրուածք-ների մէջ գտնելով իրան. vasn-ձևը, որից ուղղակի փոխառեալ է հայր։
