• ՆՀԲ «փերթ կապայի կամ քէպէի»։ Վ. Ա. Ա. (Ազգասէր Արարատեան, Կալ-կաթա 1848, էջ 96) հանում է կա, կայ. կաց, կայան «տեղ»+պերտ=փերթ «կտոր» բառերից. կափերթ է բնիկ հայ բառ, որ ցոյց է տալիս թէ այս աոհես-տը նախ ծաղկեցաւ Հայաստանում, ո-րից նիւթն ու անունը փոխ առին օտա-րազգիները։ Հիւնք. կապարճ բառից։ Հացունի, Պատմ. տարազի, էջ 7 կապ բառից։

• ՓՈԽ.-Հալերէն գաւառական ձևի հետ բոլորովին նոյն են անգլ. carpet «գորգ». հՖր. carpite, ֆրանս. carpette «սենեակի քառանկիւնի գորգ», գերմ. Karpet, իտալ. carpita «մի տեսակ թաւ կերպաս», հունգ. kärpit «վարագոյր», սերբ. karpit «վա-րագոյր», krpèta «սեղանի վրայ փռելու գորգ» (Berneker 628), որոնք բոլոր հանում են եւրոպացիք ստ. լտ. carpita «բրդէ ձորձ» բառից, իսկ այս էլ ծագած լտ. carpo «բուրդ կամ թել մանել» բայից. բայց դեռ քննելի է թէ արդեօք նոյն իսկ այս ստ. լատ. բառը փոխառեալ չէ՞ յետին հայերէն կարպետ ձևից, նիւթի հետ վաճառականու-թեամբ անցած Եւրոպա։-Օրբէլի (տե՛ս Մառ, Teксть и paз. no Kав. Փոл. հտ. I (1925), էջ 111) հայերէնից փոխառեալ է համարում նաև ռուս. ковëръ «գորգ»։ Այս բառը՝ որի ցեղակիցներն են ուկր. kóver., kovérec, չեխ. koberec, լեհ. kobierzec, բուլ-զար. guber և սերբ. guber, դեռ բացատրը-ւած չէ։ Ըստ Berneker 592 ոմանք փոխա-ռեալ են դնում անգլ. čover «ծածկոց» բա-ռից, ուրիշներ հիսլ. kggurr «գորգ» բառից, ուրիշներ էլ ֆրանս. couvrir, սպան. cobrir. իտալ. coprire, ռում. cóper «ծածկել» բա-ռից։ Սակայն բոլորն էլ անճիշտ են»
